Content Licensing FAQ

Hey! If you’re reading this, it means we’re fans of what you do. Below, we’ve tried to answer some questions you might have about content licensing. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, we’ll be happy to chat over email.

What will you need from me?

Once we’ve answered your questions and discussed any limitations regarding your content, we will require three things: a signed License Agreement, an invoice, and your images.

Chances are, we’ll be able to pull most content directly from your site. There might be a few images we ask to have in higher resolution, but we’ll handle those specifics on a case-by-case basis. Product shots make up the bulk of what we’ll need.

Ideally, we would have access to your full catalogue as we put together the demo. Instagram, blog images, and lookbook content are also great to have. These give us a bit more flexibility as we play with image placement.

Where exactly will my content be seen?

We’ll be using your content to furnish what’s called a “demo site”. Customers will be able to click through the demo site as if it were a real online store in order to get a sense of how our theme works. Your content will also be visible in various screenshots used for marketing and instructional purposes.

Will my images be available to the people who purchase these themes?

No. You retain the rights to all of your content. The permissions you grant us do not extend to our customers.

Can I limit your access to certain collections or products?

We understand that you may be more comfortable with us using certain pieces of content over others. If you take a look at the License Agreement, you’ll notice it allows you to outline specific permissions under “Schedule A”. As long as we’re left with enough products to furnish a proper demo site, we’ll be more than happy to accommodate.

Can you credit the photographer(s) who took these photos?

Absolutely! Just let us know who they are, and we’ll happily provide attribution and link back to their site.

Can I see the template and/or have final approval?

Unfortunately, we will need to process your License Agreement and invoice before you’re able to see the finished project. We know this isn’t ideal for everyone, but hopefully you understand our need to protect ourselves from last-minute renegotiations or withdrawals of permission, given how long it takes us to set these things up. We hope our current catalogue can offer some assurance regarding standards and aesthetic.

How will I get paid?

It’s fastest and easiest for us to pay you via PayPal. Just make sure to specify the email address associated with your PayPal account when you invoice us!

If you’re not set up with PayPal, that’s no problem. Just send us the following info and we’ll be happy to pay you via wire transfer:

  • Company name and address
  • Bank name and address
  • Transit or swift code or Iban number
  • Bank account number
